I wasn’t. But I wanted to photograph someone doing it. So i went to the DTES and paid 10 bucks for a flap of junk and this guy took me back to his place to shoot him shooting up. Tom was one of the most interesting and pleasant people I’ve ever conversed with. An old union pipe fitter, he’d stumbled along into various substances and fucked up times. We sat. He shot junk and I asked him about his thoughts and we talked for about 30 minutes and he explained his theory that not enough people are ‘paying it forward’. He said he wasn’t a regular junk user, more so into amphetamines and cocaine, but he’d do me the favour this one time.
